SanneClifford is a Dutch choreographer, dance artist and teacher based in Amsterdam. She has been working in the professional dance field since 2006 and presented her first independent choreographic work in 2009. She has been continuously creating since. Her most recent works are 'Anam Cara (Soul Friend)', 'Mind your step' (2020), 'Voice of Void' (2019) and 'NOTE TO SELF' (2018). So far Sanne's work has been presented in the Netherlands, Belgium, Spain, Italy, Macedonia, Denmark and Hungary.
As a choreographer she is interested in revealing moments of (dis)connection, working interdisciplinary, and creating connection between collaborators, performers and the audience. Sanne holds a BA and two MA's in dance, dance education and choreography. Next to creating and performing with her own project-based dance company 'Sanne Clifford & Co) she is working at ArtEZ University of the Arts in Arnhem (NL) as a teacher, supervisor and study coach.
During this creative career, Sanne felt the need to include more moments of research and play. Therefore she started in 2015 an initiative together with Anja Gallagher, called Choreolab Europe. This collaborative artistic research platform for dance and choreography dives into artistic development. It provides an artistic playground where new ideas and questions can be born, shared and reflected on, in a peer-to-peer setting. These choreolabs are 4-day get-togethers in an international environment.
